AEO + GEO · one coherent practice
AEO knowledge hub: understand, diagnose, improve and measure
Answer Engine Optimization helps make truthful information useful in AI-assisted research. Learn the method, inspect the evidence and choose the next step for your business—built on sound SEO.
Choose a path for your role
Business owner: begin with the fundamentals, small-business guide and service scope. Marketing manager: start with the audit, prompt research and measurement. Developer: inspect technical access, crawler policy and action readiness. A buyer comparing help can inspect deliverables and cost drivers before contacting Gavek.
Learn → Diagnose → Research → Execute → Measure
A mention, linked citation, visit and qualified enquiry are different events. An accessible source is not a guaranteed citation. AEO and GEO overlap with SEO; an agent-friendly website additionally makes information and authorised actions understandable. The guides below give each decision a distinct owner rather than create separate copies for every acronym.
Seven customer stages, with advocacy feeding new awareness
1Awareness
What is the problem?
2Interest
How does it apply?
3Consideration
Can I trust the method?
4Intent
What will the engagement involve?
5Conversion
Can I send a relevant request?
6Retention
What changed and what is next?
7Advocacy
Would I recommend this work?
Advocacy → another buyer’s awareness. Retention and advocacy require delivery and relationship work beyond AEO.
A practical journey map; proposed measures are not collected results
Use blank worksheets for your own evidence. Any numeric sample is visibly fictional. No template runs a live platform scan or estimates your customer demand. Public source documentation and meaningful update notes accompany the methods.
AEO is work on the information people use when researching through answer engines. It combines useful, verifiable answers with ordinary search accessibility; it does not give a business control over an AI platform’s recommendations.
Compare the actual work, what your business controls and the evidence each approach can produce. The boundaries between AEO and GEO are unsettled; separate synonym pages rarely help a buyer.
Start with the service questions and facts that matter to your customers. Local relevance means truthful language, eligibility and contact details, not a large collection of city-name pages.
A complex purchase involves users, specialists, management and procurement. Map their decisions to evidence and service scope rather than treating one AI mention as a completed sale.
An answer can combine pretrained knowledge, retrieved web material and tool results. These are different processes, and not every platform uses every step for every question.
Use possible subquestions to test whether a customer can complete a research task. Treat the map as an editorial hypothesis, not a list of hidden platform queries or measured prompt volumes.
Use Google’s documented Search requirements and test the actual experience. Do not turn AI Mode and AI Overviews into separate synonym strategies or promise a fixed placement.
Save the claim, verify the entity and inspect supporting sources. Correcting your own information is possible; forcing a platform to forget or recommend a business is not a service guarantee.
A useful audit explains what was tested, what is actually missing and which action can resolve it. Use six diagnostic lenses without treating a single model response as a stable ranking.
Build a balanced panel around buyer tasks, then keep observations and genuine demand evidence separate. Download the blank register and record failures as well as successful answers.
Maintain a dated fact register that resolves naming ambiguity and supports source correction. Consistency is useful only when the underlying information is true.
A complete generated answer may satisfy a simple question without a visit. Build pages for real understanding, evaluation or action rather than assuming every informational query will produce traffic.
Improve the answer’s information, not just its phrasing. A readable structure supports people; it does not guarantee that an AI system will cite the page.
Create a reproducible study only when the data has actually been collected and can be shared appropriately. A protocol is a research asset, not a completed experiment.
Use video where the task benefits from a demonstration. A transcript and accurate metadata support understanding; neither guarantees discovery or AI citation.
A curated FAQ resolves remaining uncertainties and leads to detailed guidance. It should not repeat every paragraph from neighbouring pages or promise special search treatment.
Test the actual URL, returned HTML and applicable controls. A successful crawler simulation establishes a response under those test conditions, not a verified visit by the platform or a future citation.
Make a purpose-specific policy and verify its effect. Robots rules communicate preferences; they are not authentication or proof of a crawler’s identity.
Investigate observed broken referral paths, then choose a relevant destination or retain a useful real 404. Do not assume every strange URL was generated by an AI platform.
Discovery, interpretation and action are separate capabilities. A public services website can support agents without allowing them to make unapproved commitments.
Review observable foundations without calculating a fictional probability of citation. Use the printable worksheet or complete the checks locally in your browser.
Google’s current channel documentation includes AI Assistant. Check the actual property and source dimensions before creating custom rules or treating missing referrals as no AI influence.
Use a reporting structure that separates delivery, sampled answers and business outcomes. The example is explicitly hypothetical; the downloadable register starts blank.
Map the buyer’s questions from first awareness to voluntary recommendation. AEO supports discovery and evaluation; successful delivery, retention and advocacy also require people, service operations and appropriate CRM processes.
Budget for the work and evidence you need, with external costs and implementation responsibilities made explicit. There is no universal price or defensible guaranteed ROI for an AI citation.
A scoped next step
Gavek’s existing SEO and AI-search service can be discussed using your website, market, approved facts and available evidence. The scope must define implementation responsibilities, any external costs and review criteria. No provider controls recommendations or can promise a universal AI visibility score.
Editorial publisher: Gavek. Method review: 8 November 2026. Weekly page health, monthly evidence review and quarterly source review are the recommended operating cadence, not a claim that automated monitoring or reminders have been enabled.
