Practical resources

Demonstrate SEO expertise with an assessable portfolio

Demonstrate SEO capability with permissioned portfolio evidence, clear personal ownership, tested implementation and honest descriptions of outcomes.

Original guide · English & Danish

A practitioner’s portfolio should show reasoning, implementation and honest limits. A badge alone does not establish that someone can investigate a problem or deliver work responsibly. This framework does not offer a Gavek certification or a listing of endorsed experts.

Show the problem and your role

Describe the original business question, the information available and the part of the work you personally owned. Obtain permission before sharing client material. An anonymised example should still explain the task clearly without exposing account access, customer records or commercially sensitive information.

Include decisions and verification

Explain the alternatives considered, why one was selected and how the released change was checked. Keep observed outcomes separate from causal claims. A strong portfolio can include a failed test when the reasoning and subsequent adjustment are well documented.

Make assessment repeatable

Use a rubric covering factual accuracy, technical correctness, evidence quality, communication and handover. Ask a reviewer to challenge one important assumption. Distinguish attendance certificates, tool-specific qualifications and independently demonstrated capability rather than presenting them as interchangeable credentials.

Put the method to work

Illustrative example

Illustrative portfolio: a practitioner documents a canonical-template repair with permission, showing sample URLs, the decision process and post-release checks. Client revenue is omitted because attribution is unavailable. The work remains assessable through the implementation evidence and clear ownership.

Your next steps

  1. Define the task and personal contribution.
  2. Secure publication permission.
  3. Explain alternatives and acceptance tests.
  4. Include uncertainty and lessons learned.

Must a portfolio contain spectacular growth numbers?

No. Verifiable work, sound judgement and an honest account of outcomes are more useful than unsupported figures.
