Initial AI answers can expose unclear public information. They cannot alone prove a stable ranking, market share or the effect of a website change.
Define what counts
Separate customer questions about information, comparison and purchase. Record prompt, language, date, product mode and answer. A business name, an accurate description and a citation to its website are different observations.
Look for repeated patterns
Repeat a fixed prompt set across sessions and dates. Check cited pages and factual descriptions. Missing mentions can reflect the question, available sources or answer variation; one response is not a technical diagnosis.
Improve a specific information gap
If answers repeatedly misunderstand the service area, clarify the relevant public page and supporting evidence. Record the change date. Later differences are associations unless the research design supports a stronger causal explanation.
Keep the research auditable
Preserve the prompt and complete response together rather than collecting cropped favourable screenshots. Note when the interface or mode changes. This allows a colleague to understand what was actually observed without assuming the answer is reproducible everywhere.
Put the method to work
Illustrative finding: answers describe a Danish service as English-only. The team clarifies its language information, repeats the same prompts and records accuracy separately from mention frequency. Corrected and unchanged answers both remain in the report.
Your next steps
- Freeze the initial prompt set.
- Save full answers and cited addresses.
- Separate accuracy, citations and mentions.
Questions & answers
Is an AI mention a Google ranking?
No. They are different observations, with different interfaces and sources of variation.
Does Gavek monitor ChatGPT automatically?
Not currently. This is a manual research workflow; automated monitoring needs a separately evaluated data source.
