Practical resources

Build a brand-story timeline around evidence

Create a brand-story timeline with a clear purpose, verified dates, approved assets and an accessible text sequence that supports the business story.

Original guide · English & Danish

A memorable company object or recurring character can make a timeline approachable. The story still needs dates, ownership and evidence. This guide does not claim that Gavek owns a tractor, mascot or any competitor’s brand assets.

Choose a story with a purpose

Decide what readers should understand: a product decision, an operating value or a community project. An unusual object alone does not explain the business. Select milestones that connect the story to actual decisions, and separate an amusing anecdote from a verified company achievement.

Collect permission and provenance

For each image, quotation and event, record who supplied it and whether publication is authorised. Date milestones accurately and identify reconstructed memories where records are incomplete. Do not borrow a competitor’s photographs, character names or distinctive narrative merely because their timeline is effective.

Keep the timeline accessible

Provide concise text for each milestone, meaningful image descriptions and a reading order that works without animation. Let readers find the business information without following the entire story. Review the timeline when people, assets or company relationships change.

Put the method to work

Illustrative example

Illustrative timeline: a workshop documents the restoration of its own delivery bicycle using approved photographs and maintenance receipts. The milestones explain service decisions rather than implying unverified environmental savings. Visitors can read the same story as a simple ordered list.

Your next steps

  1. Define the story’s relevance.
  2. Check dates and asset rights.
  3. Label uncertain memories.
  4. Publish an accessible text sequence.

Questions & answers

Can a fictional mascot appear?

Yes, if clearly fictional and original. Do not present its adventures as verified company events.

Does a memorable story replace product information?

No. Keep service scope, availability and contact details easy to find independently of the narrative.
