Technical & content SEO
Duplicate and thin content
Duplicate content repeats substantially the same information across URLs. Thin content gives the intended reader too little useful help for the task. These are different problems: a short page can be excellent, and a long page can still add little value. Judge purpose, originality, completeness, and evidence before deciding what to change.

Make the information
useful to your business.
Similar pages can split editorial effort and leave readers uncertain about which one is authoritative. Large volumes of lightly reworded material also create maintenance cost without necessarily meeting distinct needs. Build a focused resource library in which each destination has a reason to exist beyond targeting a slightly different keyword variation.
01Understand the baseline
Group pages by actual intent and overlap, using titles and text similarity only as starting clues. Compare the questions answered, examples, audience, and next step. Distinguish technical URL duplication from separate pages that lack a meaningful editorial difference.
02Choose the work
For useful pages with incomplete answers, add specific missing value: an original example, selection criteria, implementation instructions, limitations, or verifiable evidence. Do not inflate the word count or rephrase competitors merely to make the page appear longer.
03Verify and learn
Where several pages answer the same need, choose a suitable consolidated destination and preserve the strongest useful material. Update internal links and use relevant redirects where appropriate. Keep distinct language versions and genuinely different audiences separate when they justify separate pages.
Use the free Gavek tools for a public-page snapshot and browser-based planning. This wider workflow may require Search Console, a third-party data provider, CMS access or a separately agreed specialist service. Live rank databases, automatic CMS changes and account integrations are not included in the current free tools.

Ask GavekIs duplicate content always a penalty?
Ordinary duplication is not automatically a spam violation. It can still complicate canonical selection and site maintenance. Diagnose the actual situation rather than describing every duplicate title or URL as a penalty.
How long should a useful page be?
Long enough to resolve its intended task without unnecessary material. Some tasks need one precise answer; others need detailed evidence and examples. Use the reader's needs and the page's purpose, not an arbitrary word target.
