# Prioritise AEO opportunities by evidence, relevance and delivery cost

A transparent worksheet can help order work. Its score is a planning aid based on your inputs, not a forecast of rankings, AI citations or revenue.

## Apply critical gates before a score

Correct misleading business facts and broken conversion paths before comparing editorial ideas. Confirm that the question belongs to the business, that the proposed format matches the buyer task and that credible evidence can be supplied. A high arithmetic score cannot waive a legal review, missing permission or technical dependency. Mark these as blocked dependencies with an owner.

## A deliberately simple planning formula

Rate business relevance, customer urgency and evidence confidence from 1 to 5. Rate effort from 1 to 5 and divide the sum of the first three by effort. Show the inputs beside the result. These are subjective planning judgements, not measured keyword difficulty or expected return. Use sensitivity checks: if changing confidence by one point changes the order, investigate rather than pretending the rank is precise.

## Work through an illustrative queue

A factual correction affecting a core service may require little effort and have high customer urgency. A new research project may have potential but depend on data rights and expert time. Editorial outreach depends on independent publisher interest. Keep Fix, Build and Influence work visible as different responsibilities. Do not substitute a production quota for acceptance criteria.

## Operate the seven-step cycle

Discover the task and evidence; diagnose the actual gap; decide the owner URL; plan facts and acceptance; produce or implement; verify the live change and measured observations; improve based on findings. Assign a factual owner, delivery owner and reviewer. Revisit the queue after verification so resolved or disproven ideas do not remain on an automatic publishing treadmill.
